Job Purpose

The Safety Technical Investigator is responsible for investigating, monitoring, and managing technical safety events under the Air Arabia Safety Management System (SMS), ensuring compliance with CAR-OCR, GCAA regulations, and company policies. The role includes risk assessment, reporting, analysis, and closure of technical events, maintaining records in IQSMS and ROSI, updating the Risk Register, and supporting operational departments. The position contributes to safety trend identification, policy and procedure updates, and safety awareness, while supporting and promoting a proactive safety culture across the organization.

Key Result Responsibilities

  • Upon receiving a technical event report (via IQSMS Reports, MCC, OCC/Dispatch Notifications, etc.), conduct an initial risk assessment to determine urgency and potential impact
  • Notify GCAA/AAIS (General Civil Aviation Authority/Aviation Accident Investigation Section) of urgently reportable events as and when required.
  • Perform safety investigations on events/incidents prioritizing those requiring urgent attention. For operational incidents/events, actively involve FSOs (Flight Safety Officers) as investigators. Supports all investigations requirements.
  • For technical events reportable under CAR-OCR, initiate notification to the authorities via ROSI (Reportable Occurrence System Interface) promptly, in line with the timeframes established in CAR-OCR.
  • Maintain and update all ROSI reports as necessary, including adding comments, uploading files, and reflecting any changes.
  • Review comments provided by responsible personnel on technical reports. Based on the review and risk assessment, determine closure or further actions required
  • Ensure the E & M IQSMS reports are closed within the stipulated time. Follow up on action items arising from technical event investigations, ensuring timely completion.

  • Monitor the departmental ROSI database to track open reports and identify those requiring action.
  • Identify safety trends and agree action plans with the relevant operational departments.
  • Update the Risk Register for any events related to engineering and maintenance.
  • Contribute to the publication of periodic safety publications, in line with the targets
  • Facilitate the  “Safety Action Group”, meetings including preparing the presentation, minuting the meeting and closure of the action items
  • Assists in establishing, updating, and publishing safety manuals, policies, and procedures 
  • Contributes to the effective performance and on-going development of the department by providing accurate and timely response to queries and emails in order to optimize workflow procedures in the office.
  • Supports the safety team in their assignments and daily work whenever needed.

Qualifications (Academic, training, languages)

  • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in engineering from a recognized university or institute in one of the following majors: Aeronautical /Aerospace / Mechanical / Electrical 

Core (Mandatory):

  • A qualified B1 or B2 engineer
  • Must be able to read and comprehend technical manuals, documents, and regulations pertaining to a wide variety of operational areas
  • Effective report writing and communication skills; fluent in English
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Office
  • Composed and professional, able to perform effectively under pressure.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with high attention to detail.

Work Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in the Airlines/Aviation industry, minimum of 2 years in the “Safety Department” in a similar capacity is required for this role.
