Job Purpose
Responsible for supporting audit activities, conducting employee evaluations, and identifying opportunities for process transformation and efficiency. Overseeing a team in the preparation and execution of financial and non-financial transactions, ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of deliverables through established controls and review mechanisms. This role fosters a collaborative team environment, represents the team in various forums, and ensures smooth functioning and adherence to SLAs. The Assistant Manager combines strong technical and leadership skills to drive team performance and support operational goals.
Key Result Responsibilities
- Oversee and mentor an assigned team, ensuring compliance with financial accounting standards and timely completion of transactions. Foster a positive and productive team environment, enabling collaboration and accountability.
- Establish and maintain control frameworks and review processes to guarantee accuracy, completeness, and timely delivery of all team outputs.
- Coordinate with internal and external auditors by preparing audit schedules, gathering supporting documents, and addressing audit queries to ensure transparency and compliance.
- Conduct periodic performance evaluations for team members, providing feedback, coaching, and support to encourage growth and development.
- Represent the team in meetings and cross-functional forums, acting as a liaison between the team and other departments. Maintain open communication channels to address issues and support smooth operational flow.
- Analyze current processes, including upstream and downstream dependencies, and identify opportunities for efficiency. Work with relevant stakeholders to implement process improvements and drive transformation initiatives.
Key Result Responsibilities - Continued
- Ensure strict adherence to SLAs, continuously monitoring team performance and implementing corrective actions as necessary to maintain service quality and efficiency.
- Supervise the preparation and reconciliation of financial statements, ensuring discrepancies are identified and resolved in a timely manner. Oversee management reports and ensure accurate data is presented to senior leadership.
- Apply knowledge of working capital management principles to optimize cash flow, receivables, and payables, supporting financial health and operational stability.
- Effectively delegate tasks and responsibilities within the team, ensuring optimal resource utilization and meeting departmental objectives.
Qualifications (Academic, training, languages)
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications (Advanced Excel is a must) and any accounting software
Work Experience
- 8 + years of accounting experience, with a minimum of 4 years in a supervisory or managerial role within a BPO or shared services environment.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, working capital management, and financial reporting standards.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, delegate, and motivate a team effectively, with excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- Proven experience in setting up control frameworks, performing employee evaluations, and leading process improvement initiatives.
- Familiarity with international accounting standards, SLAs, and BPO-specific client requirements.
- Strong organizational and delegation skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage team workloads effectively.
