Job Purpose

Responsible to deliver high-quality automated tests and lead quality practices within the assigned squad. Acts as the senior technical voice on test strategy, framework usage, and quality gate design at squad level. Drives shift-left adoption, coaches peers, and ensures automation outcomes directly improve release stability and defect escape rate across ISA’s critical systems.

Key Result Responsibilities

Automation Delivery & Framework Usage

  • Lead the design of automated test suites for complex features across UI, API, performance, and data layers.
  • Extend the automation framework with reusable components and address framework-level technical debt.
  • Own flake diagnosis and reliability improvements for the squad’s critical test paths.

Quality Gates & Shift-Left

  • Define squad-level quality gate criteria and exit checks, embedded in CI/CD pipelines.
  • Pair with developers on test design, contract testing, and component testing from sprint planning.
  • Drive test data strategy and production-like environment usage within the squad.

Stakeholder & Release Engagement

  • Translate quality risks and test outcomes into clear release decisions with the Product Owner and Tech Lead.
  • Coordinate with Operations and DevOps on release verification, smoke tests, and rollback readiness.
  • Represent quality signals in squad ceremonies and release readiness reviews.

Key Result Responsibilities-Continued

Coaching & Peer Review

  • Coach QA peers on framework usage, test design, and debugging.
  • Perform code reviews on automation pull requests and enforce standards.

Continuous Improvement & Tooling

  • Contribute to framework roadmap, tool selection, and cross-squad quality initiatives.
  • Lead post-incident and post-release reviews for coverage and prevention gaps.

Qualifications (Academic, training, languages)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field. 
  • Strong proficiency in modern test automation frameworks (Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, RestAssured, or equivalent).
  • Proficient in at least one programming language used for automation (Java, C#, Python, or JavaScript/TypeScript).
  • Solid working knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and quality gate design (Azure DevOps, Jenkins, GitHub Actions).
  • Good understanding of software architecture, APIs, microservices, and databases.
  • Able to analyze telemetry, flake data, and defect trends and translate them into actions.
  • Exposure to performance testing, load testing, and non-functional testing.
  • Working knowledge of observability tools (Datadog, Dynatrace, or equivalent).
  • Strong debugging, problem-solving, and risk-assessment skills.
  • Demonstrates ownership, coaches peers, and delivers consistently against squad KPIs.
  • Fluent in English Language.

Work Experience

  • With 4-6 years of hands-on experience in software test automation, with proven delivery in agile squads.
  • Travel, airline, or transactional/e-commerce platform experience is preferred.
