Job Purpose
To assist the Safety Manager in implementing, monitoring, and enhancing the Safety Management System (SMS) and Emergency Response Plan (ERP) at Air Arabia Egypt. The Safety Officer is responsible for managing and analyzing safety reports, initiating and coordinating incident investigations, maintaining the risk register, and ensuring compliance with regulatory reporting requirements. The role actively promotes a strong safety culture through communication, training, and safety awareness initiatives, supports Flight Data Monitoring activities, and ensures timely, accurate follow-up on safety-related matters to uphold the highest operational safety standards
Key Result Responsibilities:
- Maintain the voluntary reporting database for Safety Reports.
- Initiate incident investigation process by reporting events through the established channels.
- Conduct regular safety inspections, audits, and risk assessments across all operational areas to identify and mitigate hazards such as Ground Handling Site & Maintenance activities.
- Ensure the use, maintenance, and availability of PPE and safety equipment, including
compliance with inspection and certification standards.
- Liaise effectively with other departments on a regular basis for incident / reports follow up.
- Evaluate, with Safety Manager, risk indices for safety reports.
- Validate Follow up on all open reports, ensuring timely closure and appropriate corrective/preventive actions taken.
- Assist the Safety Manager in assigning corrective actions and ensuring proper involvement and coordination with other departments.
- Conduct statistical analysis of hazards, incidents, accidents, and safety events to identify trends, contributing factors, and emerging risks.
- Generate Closure of hazard reports after due investigation and ensure all follow up is completed.
- Prepare quarterly / Monthly reports to be approved by the Safety Manager.
- In coordination with Safety Manager, collect, organize, and disseminate safety-related information to promote safety awareness.
- Review all safety documents / Manuals in line with regulations to reflect safety core policies and practices.
- Support safety promotion activities, such as safety meetings, campaigns, workshops, and awareness sessions
- Assist Safety Manger in increasing operational risk awareness and promoting safety culture at Air Arabia Egypt.
- Support in the overall development of the department and contribute towards training whenever required
- Assume a proactive / predictive role in staying informed with the industry’s best practices for continuous development of the Safety department
- To contribute significantly to the smooth functioning of the Safety department by ensuring accurate, timely preparation and execution of all tasks allocated by Manager Safety in line with assigned duties and responsibilities.
- Update of the Risk Register on regular basis
- Develops, implements and manages all facets of the Emergency Response Plan (ERP), ensuring compliance with all applicable laws/regulations and Company goals and objectives with the appropriate level of corporate preparedness.
- Establishes, maintains and continuously updates a detailed “Emergency Response Program, ERP”, manual, checklists, Drills and needed modifications to implement safety controls and minimize safety hazards.
- Coordinate and support emergency preparedness activities, including drills, response planning, and simulations.
- Lead projects and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) performance across the company.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support overall safety, compliance, and risk management objectives.
Qualifications (Academic, training, languages)
- Very good training design and delivery as well as public speaking skills.
- Strong computer and technical reporting skills.
- SMS, Risk Management , Root Cause and Quality Assurance certificates and trainings are an added value for this role.
- Occupational Health, Safety & Environmental Control (HSE) (OSHA) certificate.
- Must possess good knowledge of safety management principles.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office: Advanced Excel & Power Point.
- Very good command overwritten and verbal communication skills: reporting, presentations, etc.
- Ability to work in a team and follow HSE regulations.
- Fluent in English Language.
Work Experience
- Experience in aviation Safety Management System & Emergency Response.
- Experience in Airside Operations (Ground Operation, Maintenance activities).
- Basic knowledge of safety procedures and regulations.
- Capable of designing, developing and delivering training programs and methodologies in the respective area of operation; basically “Emergency Response Program”.
- A balanced personality, composed, capable of dealing with threats and emergency cases with focus, analytical thinking, efficiency and commitment to successful safe results.
- Familiar with Quality Assurance / Internal & External Audit practices.
- High accuracy and attention to both results and details.
- Proven skills in analyzing data, identifying hazards and recommending effective corrective actions.
- Demonstrates the ability to contribute and successfully deliver against business strategy and set KPIs.
